The Lower Sixth physicists took a train to Birmingham University to listen to some inspiring lectures by renowned physicists. The lectures covered topics as wide-ranging as how quantum physics is leading to a new field of quantum biology (Jim Al-Khalili); how bubbles in the ocean affect the clouds and weather in the Arctic (Helen Czerski); and how beat-boxers and opera singers use physics to make a sound (Trevor Cox).

It was a fascinating day that gave us a glimpse into the opportunities available to physics graduates. We also enjoyed having a nose around the university in the breaks!
